What happens in BuildMode?

BuildMode is our signature way of working directly with companies to set them on track for growth, sustainability and legal protection.

The program is designed to help startup teams and new founders complete the essential legal steps required to set up their new businesses. Through live online workshops and one-to-one support with an experienced legal team, you will receive hands-on guidance for turning your business idea into an official legal business.

BuildMode runs 6-8 weeks, starts at $2.5k + state filing fees, and involves three major steps:

How does it work?

Business Essentials Workshop
Understand the fundamentals for legally launching your business and the steps you need to take to protect your vision and ideas. We explain all the essentials, from deciding on your best legal structure to setting up your team. The workshop happens in a half-day workshop intensive where you'll also have the opportunity to network with other startup teams and founders launching their business alongside you in the program.

Legal Setup
We work with you to set up your business. You'll meet one-to-one with our legal advisors to craft your business legal framework. We will prepare your paperwork and execute everything you need to ensure you're launched and ready for business operations in January 2022. We will provide you with a framework for ongoing legal compliance.

Business Strategy Workshop
Once your business is established, it's time to develop your business strategy for your first year. In January 2022, you'll have the opportunity to reconnect with the founders in your cohort in a second half-day workshop. This workshop is designed to help you make meaningful progress in your first year in business with finance, marketing, and growth sessions. You'll come away with a clear strategy to move your business forward with confidence.

Common Questions

Can I do this myself through an online service like LegalZoom, etc?

Yes. You can create a company through services like LegalZoom or Stripe Atlas. However, these services are DIY (Do It Yourself). In most cases, you will be required to make sure all your materials are properly executed and submitted. Your time is better spent on building your business, not legal paperwork. With BuildMode, everything is done for you and attorney-guided. All you have to worry about is showing up and the rest will be done for you.

I don't have a business yet but have an idea for one? Is this program still good for me?

Congrats on having an idea for your startup! To us, that is a critical step. After all, without a bit of inspiration, how can you craft a vision and set the groundwork you need?

If you are ready to turn that idea into a reality, then this program is good for you. If you are still in the early, early idea stage or are debating competing ideas, your time and resources are better spent on committing to your idea rather than building a framework for your company. Don’t worry. We will be here to help you get into BuildMode when you are ready.

Who is this program good for?

This program is great for both solo founders and startup teams. There are also some important considerations that you should review.

First, you should have ability to own a business in the U.S. and be ready to form your business with an origination date in January 2022. This is not for for if you're not ready to start on your paperwork immediately.

Next, you should already have decided that a limited liability company (LLC) or corporation (INC) is the proper structure for their business. If you need help making this decision, book a strategy call with us. We can help.

Finally, to participate in this program, you'll need time to attend the Business Essentials workshop (Nov 2021) and two one-to-one strategy sessions (Nov 2021 + Jan 2022).

How much does this program cost?

BuildMode runs 6-8 weeks and starts at $2.5k + state filing fees. Your final cost are based on your team size and legal needs. For example, state filing fees alone for a corporation in California and Delaware average around $300. A more detailed explanation of associated costs can be discussed on your enrollment call.
